NUDE Bulletin For April: No More Exploitation

NO MORE EXPLOITATION

The employer is only concerned with maximizing him profits and the workers are being exploited in the process.

What workers are seeking to do is very important and that is their right under the Industrial Relation Act of 1972 which is the main piece of labour legislation/law in T&T.

The employer owns the raw materials, the equipment and the premises. He calls all the shots (the when, the where, the who, the what)

The workers only own their labour. However, without labour the employer can’t produce anything, LABOUR IS THE KEY.

Now, our goal is simple. We want to negotiate a collective agreement. This agreement deals with an increase in salaries, fair polices & procedures, additional benefits and a safe & healthy working environment.

A collective agreement is what gives workers power and that is what the employer is afraid off.

He must not be allowed to succeed with his divide & conquer strategies or intimidate members with his supremacy complex.

Example: Food Handlers Badge – The badge is required by law for anyone dealing with food products that would be consumed by the General Public. However it is a requirement of the Job and should be paid for by the employer. This is a perfect example of how Supermix continues to take advantage of workers.
